"They briefly mentioned that they're planning an additional building and it raised some questions," Patrick O'Brien, a City Council member, tells GlobeSt.com. "Afterwards we heard that there was a master plan and we'd like to see it rather than approve this plan piecemeal."
Scott Young, spokesperson for AstraZeneca's R&D Boston confirms for GlobeSt.com that the company is planning for additional buildings here, next to the planned garage. "There are long-term plans for all kinds of scenarios," he says. "We are running through the approval process now for the garage."
AstraZeneca was formed in 1999 from a merger between Astra, a Swedish company, and Zeneca, a company based in England. The company is now headquartered in London and has offices all over the world.
