KickStart Expands with Additional 20,000 SF, Planning International Rollout

NEW YORK CITY-KickStart, a venture started last September to provide cost-effective office space alternatives for technology-based firms, takes a second location and plans further expansion throughout 2001.

NEW YORK CITY-KickStart, a venture developed by Newmark & Co., Savanna Partners and the Moinian Group to provide office space specifically designed for small start-up technology-based companies, has expanded to an additional 20,000 sf at 1 West St. The firm plans to go to Boston and Washington, DC by the end of this first quarter and to open internationally by the end of the year.

KickStart opened its flagship location back in September of last year, as GlobeSt.com reported, at 535 W. 34th St. and called it KickStart @ 34th Street. At the time the company’s executive vice president told GlobeSt.com that its next building would open in December 2000 at 17 Battery Place near Wall Street to be called KickStart @ Wall Street, and that other buildings would follow across the country in 2001.

The original location totals 45,000 sf in six stories. It houses offices that are “pods” or private suites designed in the Plug-N-Go model for three to 12 people only per office. The new location on West Street, rather than Battery Place, is in fact called KickStart @ Wall Street.
