Overall, California is still the second-best state for job hunters. Only Massachusetts can claim a better job-openings-to-workers ratio, the new report by online job-posting service FlipDog.com says.

The monthly FlipDog index combines the number of postings by employers on the company's own Web site with workforce and unemployment data supplied by the US Department of Labor.

Massachusetts is the best state to look for work because it has 10.44 job offerings for every 1,000 people in the workforce, the report says. California ranks second, with 6.66 offers per 1,000 workers.
