The facility is a first phase of a project that will branch out into the Oak Pointe Condominiums, a 128-unit project. The projects had been approved by the city planning commission in June 1999, but the developer let the plans expire.

The condominium project has changed and needs to be more thoroughly reviewed before it can go back to the planning commission at its March meeting, said city officials. The two facilities will be built along Eight Mile Road.
