The center will focus on technology development deemed critical for Legerity's global growth plans and supplement work at its Austin headquarters, located at 6800 Burleson Rd.
"Ottawa is an ideal location for Legerity's design center because it is one of the leading regions in the world for communication system and semiconductor design," Ron Van Dell, CEO for the private company, says in a prepared statement. The company already is in the process of assembling the design staff in a region that's touted as Canada's Silicon Valley. The Ottawa region is home to such industry giants as Nortel Networks, Alcatel/Newbridge Networks, Cisco, Siemens, Lucent Microelectronics, Mitel and LSI Logic.
Legerity also maintains 11 sales offices in the US and Canada as well as 11 offices in Europe and the Pacific Rim. Legerity is an integrated circuit provider of voice and data networks.
