International Law Firm Moves Into McGraw-Hill Bldg.

NEW YORK CITY-Allen & Overy, an international law firm based in London, has signed a lease for three floors in the McGraw-Hill Building at 1221 Avenue of the Americas for a 15-year term. Over the next two years, the firm will start to occupy space as it becomes available toward the end of 2001. The offices are part of a bigger parcel that was vacated by the previous tenant, the McGraw-Hill Cos., which together with the Rockefeller Group, owns the building. Other details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The firm has nine partners and support staff of 85 here, which are currently located at 10 East 50th St. Allen & Overy, founded in 1930, opened its New York office in 1985, maintains offices in 24 cities worldwide and has more than 340 partners. A&O has a broad practice range areas that includes asset financing and leasing, media and technology, Latin American transactions, securitizations and tax.
