"This is going to be a recommendation that is called for in this organizational analysis that KPMG is doing," Patrick Moscaritolo, chief executive of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, tells GlobeSt.com. "They want a CEO that has overall responsibility for all elements of the project."

Sources involved with the project confirm for GlobeSt.com that James Rooney will be recommended for this position. "It is anticipated that KPMG will recommend a CEO-type position for this project," sources tell GlobeSt.com, "and they are looking at Jim Rooney."

Rooney has worked for the MBTA, and the Turnpike Authority. In his current position, as chief of staff to city Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Rooney has taken over as the city's representative to the board of the MCCA. "He's been at the table for city government," says Moscaritolo. "He understands how to finance complex projects and how critical these public/private projects are. He's been working in that environment his entire career. He's the ideal candidate to carry out this project."
