FARMINGTON HILLS, MI-Phoenix Land Development Co. officials recently won approval from the Farmington Hills City Council for the conceptual plans for Grand River Crossing, a 12-acre planned development. Plans include demolishing a three commercial buildings and seven homes on Grand River Road Avenue between Averhill and Hamilton streets. City Planner Ed Gardiner says the developer, Phoenix Land Development Co., has submitted basic drawings of a neighborhood shopping center for the site. A cost estimate is unavailable for the projected 140,000-sf project, Gardiner says. The company is talking to various retail chains, but nothing has been announced.

“A contract is being worked up between the city and the developer. That contract will be approved by council most likely in March, and the site plans will follow,” he tells GlobeSt.com.

In January, the council unanimously voted in favor of a site plan for a $150-million mixed-use retail project for property located north of 14 Mile Road and east of Orchard Lake Road, another Phoenix project.
