.About one-quarter of those polled said that they had placed a request for telecommunications services with a firm other than their incumbent telephone company and the great majority (87%), reported that the order had been fulfilled. The survey also found how important companies regard telecommunications services. Forty percent indicated that they would consider relocating when their lease came up for renewal if they were not receiving important telecommunications services.

The survey was funded by the Real Access Alliance, which represents 11 trade associations that support unrestricted opportunities to negotiate with telecommunications providers for services in buildings on behalf of their tenants. Telephone interviews were conducted nationwide between Jan. 16 and 26 with 454 senior executives for telecom services in businesses that are occupants of multi-tenant buildings. The survey's margin of error is 4.6%.
