The company was founded in 1992 and principal S. Lawrence Davis reports, "Sales in 2000 totaled more than $562 million, bringing the turnaround of commercial and multifamily properties throughout the country to a rewarding conclusion."

Emmes recently sold, as reported by GlobeSt.com, a package of 20 multifamily residential properties located in New Jersey, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania for $280 million. "We have demonstrated that investment in affordable, middle-class housing can be sound and profitable," according to Emmes president/CEO Andrew Davidoff. When Emmes acquired the properties, many of them were failing fiscally and physically run-down, but were rehabilitated and then marketed.

Emmes also negotiated the sale of 685 Third Ave. for $210 million last year. In addition, it leased 62,779 sf at 19 W. 44th St. and 71,9977 sf at 417 Fifth Ave. as well as 2,935 sf at 535 and 545 Fifth Ave. These, as is the case with most Emmes properties, were repositioned and renovated by the company.
