The Whitaker Cos. Inc. is taking 3,475 sf at the 170,144-sf Hartland Plaza, located at 1717 W. Sixth St. in the southwest submarket. Sliding into the south side's 74,637-sf, fully leased Lakeshore Towers is the law firm of Marlow Preston and Associates, which has signed for 2,246 sf. The bankruptcy-specialty legal practice is giving up space in the prestigious 100 Congress high-rise in the CBD with the move, John Childers, principal in Colliers Oxford Commercial, told GlobeSt.com.
"They have all the benefits of being within arm's length of downtown," adds Childers. Whitaker, a human resources staffing operation, and the Marlow Preston firm will be moving into their new locations March 1, he says. Childers and Colliers Oxford broker Carl Condon have negotiated the leases on behalf of the tenants. Hartland Plaza, which is 96% leased, is owned by Lake Austin Commons Ltd., with Sage Land Co. as the general partner. Michael Murphy of Pyramid Properties has represented the building owner in the Hartland lease while The DuPont Group, owner of Lakeshore Towers, had used an in-house broker.
