AUSTIN-Two office tenants have grabbed space on the periphery of Austin’s CBD in what’s becoming a favored strategy to stay close to the downtown and its amenities while locating where parking is free and there’s less traffic congestion.

The Whitaker Cos. Inc. is taking 3,475 sf at the 170,144-sf Hartland Plaza, located at 1717 W. Sixth St. in the southwest submarket. Sliding into the south side’s 74,637-sf, fully leased Lakeshore Towers is the law firm of Marlow Preston and Associates, which has signed for 2,246 sf. The bankruptcy-specialty legal practice is giving up space in the prestigious 100 Congress high-rise in the CBD with the move, John Childers, principal in Colliers Oxford Commercial, told GlobeSt.com.
