Port of Oakland Requests Qualifications for 66-Acre Waterfront Property

OAKLAND, CA-The Port of Oakland will circulate the request early next month in search of a master developer to transform a 66-acre industrial area into a mixed-use project totaling 2.5 million sf.

OAKLAND, CA-Port of Oakland officials will circulate to developers next month a request for qualifications to develop 66 acres of unused waterfront. Port officials want to transform the blighted area running from Oak to 9th street into a bustling, mixed-use project that would consist of 2.5 million sf.

Although port officials won’t suggest which developers will receive the RFQs, 11 developers have expressed interest in the property, according to sources. Developers will have to figure out a way to incorporate office, retail, industrial and marina space and connect it to the nearby Lake Merritt channel.
