Eaglepoint is a 400-acre, mixed-use development at Highway 267 and I-74. It also is near I-65 and I-465, a location that is drawing more than the parent company of TJMaxx and Marshalls, which chose Eaglepoint as for its home goods group's national distribution center.
"Generally speaking, Indianapolis is emerging as a regional and national distribution location," says Lauth Property Group executive vice president Michael Curless. "There's a lot of well-located land near the interstate system. Two-thirds of the nation's population is within a day's truck drive, so there's a lot of developer interest in Indianapolis."They're choosing locations here in lieu of Chicago, rather than addition to Chicago," Curless adds.
TJX will move into a 396,000-sf portion of the build-to-suit in the middle of May, just before an expected June 1 completion. The second, 409,200-sf phase will be ready for occupancy Nov. 1, Curless says. The facility will employ more than 600.
