Yahoo, Juniper Lease Up Mathilda/Java Research Centre

SAN JOSE-The Mathilda/Java Research Centre just got much more occupied. Yahoo! Inc. has taken 171,000 sf in the development and Juniper Networks has taken another 143,700 sf.

Yahoo! will use its space, located at 1302 and 1350 Mathilda Ave., for software engineering. Juniper Networks will use its space, at 1220 Mathilda Ave., to support its advanced engineering and software development. Other tenants in the project include Lockheed Martin, Lucent Technologies, Intel and Applied Materials.

Don Reimann, a senior vice president at Colliers International in San Jose and lead leasing agent for Mathilda, says the Yahoo lease signifies the company’s further commitment “toward centralizing its primary operations” at Mathilda. As for Juniper Networks, Reimann says the follow through on its planned expansion is a good sign in the face of what he described as “some slowdown in the race for Silicon Valley office space.”
