San Diego has three representatives on the SDUPDC and National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach and Coronado each have one.
Mayor Dick Murphy says he will ask the city's three representatives to give quarterly reports to the council's Rules Committee. Commissioners can then communicate directly with the council. The mayor says that up until now, council members have not had a formal chance to give input to the city's port commissioners. Councilman Byron Wear has been the council's liaison with the port.
Wear suggests that the city's commissioners also make reports to the council's Land Use and Housing Committee.
