REIT Conference Panelists Say Gains Will Continue, Just at a Controlled Pace

NEW YORK CITY-Credit Suisse First Boston sponsored the 2001 REIT Conference at the Plaza Hotel over the past three days. The sentiment shared was that the boom will continue, but with more moderate increases.

NEW YORK CITY-The real estate boom is not going to stop anytime soon, according to the consensus of views shared at the 2001 REIT Conference (sponsored by Credit Suisse First Boston) held at the Plaza Hotel. The conference began on Monday, Feb. 26th and continued through Wednesday, Feb. 28, with company presentations the first two days and panel discussions on the final day.

Throughout the course of the events, heavy-hitter executives from the likes of Boston Properties, Crescent Real Estate Equities, Reckson Associates and SL Green presented short speeches profiling the given company and the market. Insiders continually said that the advances made over the past eight years will continue, but at a more steady pace. The gains will still be there, but they won’t be as hefty as they have been.

“New York benefits a great deal from in-migration,” noted Richard Hokenson, director of CSFB. “This area remains the place to be, and more people will want to flock here even in bad times.”
