The $140 million 900,000-sf hotel, recently inducted into a club of The World's Leading Hotels, will be renamed as the Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle. The Grand Hyatt designation, introduced in 1980, identifies Hyatt's ultra-luxury hotels, of which there are currently 18.

The Elliott's 30 stories will hold 425 guestrooms, 32,000 sf of meting space, 25,000 sf of retail and a health club. Its showcase 300-seat three-tier restaurant, 727 Pine, will offer an 8,000-bottle wine list and cuisine prepared by chef Danielle Custer, recipient of numerous awards.

Developer Richard C. Hedreen's first hotel property was the Seattle Hilton Hotel at Sixth Ave., built in 1969. His next was the 34-story Park Hilton Hotel, since renamed Crown Plaza, which opened in 1980. The in 1983 he completed the 28-story 553-room Renaissance Madison Hotel.
