The company is establishing more of a presence in the New England area, according to Karen Meleta, corporate spokesperson for Wakefern Food Corp. The company has ten stores in total spread throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The two Massachusetts stores are in Springfield and west Springfield.
"We've had success in this region," Meleta tells GlobeSt.com. "That is why we decided to open the Seekonk store." Meleta would not comment on whether the chain is planning to move into the Greater Boston area but she adds, "We're always looking for opportunities to open new stores."
Towne Centre is a 14.7-acre redevelopment project here owned by SeP associates LLC. The Centre still has 87,000-sf of space that is not yet leased. Finard & Company's Donald Mace and The Grossman companies' Aidan Murray represented SeP. The Grossman Companies is a partner in SeP. Healy-Smith Development, Inc represented Price Rite.
