Headquartered in Durham, about 100 miles northeast of Charlotte, Swifty Serve is the second-largest privately owned, independently operated convenience-store chain in the United States, according to the report. The stores sold to Swifty Serve sell Chevron gas.

The company now has more than 600 stores throughout the Southeast, with more than $1 billion in sales and 4,500 employees, according to the published report. Its stores operate under the Swifty Serve, EZ Serve, Country Cupboard, Majic Mart, Sav-A-Ton, Sunshine Travel Centers and Town Star brands.
