Under a proposal by Murphy last month, a larger portion of the city's share of the $225-million project would be borne by the city's redevelopment agency. Prior to the taxpayer association endorsement, Murphy removed a large waterfront hotel from the financing plan. The taxpayers association had claimed that the hotel posed an unacceptable financial risk to the city and its residents.

In an attempt to remove any taint caused by former Councilwoman Valerie Stallings' involvement in the original votes, the city council is scheduled to reconsider more than two-dozen ballpark-related votes today.

Stallings resigned Jan. 29 and pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors in connection with gifts received from Padres owner John Moores, after she had she failed to return and failed to recuse herself from ballpark related votes.
