JNI Corp., which makes host bus adapters for computer servers, will be the exclusive tenant in the new, 85,000-sf Pacific Plaza Building atTorrey Hills, adjacent to Interstate 5 just north of the 5/805 interchange. The new building will accommodate the company's current professional staff, which numbers approximately 170, and light manufacturing facilities, according to the company.

In addition, the company has rights to a planned 70,000-sf building adjacent to the new headquarters building. The two buildings give JNI room for up to 600 employees, company officials say. The existing building was designed by Brian Paul & Associates and built by Neilson Dillingham. JNI contracted InterArch for interior design services, with Penne Horn as the principal designer. Bycor General Contractors is building out the facility for JNI.p"JNI has been in its current facility since the company was founded with six employees in 1995," said Neal Waddington, president/CEO ofJNI. "As we approach the next stage in the company's evolution, we will do so in a facility that offers state-of-the-art infrastructure that enables us grow to the $500-million level."pThe new facility includes more than 6,000 sf of R&D facilities. Additional features include manufacturing and testing facilities, a leading-edge training center and videoconferencing and telecommunications systems.pJNI has a 10-year lease on the facility. Kelly Commercial Real Estate Services brokered the deal. Coast Income Properties Inc. will manage the building. Terms of the deal were unavailable.
