Locally based DFS operates about 150 duty free shops catering to international travelers mainly in airports throughout Asia, the Pacific Rim and North America. The company also has about a dozen Galleria operations in downtown or resort locations, including a 54,000 sq. ft. store opened last year in San Francisco's Union Square.

The new Kuala Lumpur operation spreads over two floors within the Kuala Lumpur Hilton and covers 27,000 sq. ft. It is the result of a lease agreement between DFS and Pernas International Holding Bhd, one of the largest investment groups in Malaysia. Included among the many world-renowned brands in the Galleria's lineup are Bvlgari and Christian Dior as well as Celine, Coach, Dunhill, Givenchy, Paul Smith, Tumi and more. Services to be offered at the retail space include money changing services and a free shuttle bus to and from the store.

DFS Group Limited's headquarters occupy the 33rd floor at 525 Market St. in downtown San Francisco. The company is 61 percent owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the Paris-based luxury products group and 39 percent owned by co-founder Robert Miller.
