Cafagne, during his State of the City address Tuesday, said nearly 8,000 new jobs have been created over three years in the business park, which is now more than 80% built out.

Poway, one of San Diego County's emerging industrial and R&D real estate markets, is home to 313 companies that occupy 5.8 million sf. Cafagne says those firms are now generating $1.2 million in sales tax each year, and that will increase if a proposed business-class hotel opens at the business park early next year.

The mayor cited a national survey by Expansion Management Magazine that rated the Poway Unified School District among the top school districts of the 2,200 districts reviewed.

Cafagne says one of the city's goals is to improve the Poway Road retail corridor and address traffic and electric power concerns.
