Sumrall Leaving EDC to Launch Small Business Consulting Group

ORLANDO-The 1,000-member not-for-profit, public-private Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida Inc. is scouting for a new chief and a top department executive.

Hal Sumrall, a marketing authority on small business startups and international trade for 25 years, is leaving the EDC to go into business for himself. Darrell Kelley, the EDC’s president, previously announced his resignation to become president and chief operating officer of Milcom Technologies Inc. in suburban Maitland, FL.

Sumrall and Kelley will leave the organization March 30. Their EDC salaries are over $60,000 per year. EDC officials have a short list of candidates for both positions and will make them public within the next few weeks, they tell GlobeSt.com.
