The county is kicking in $280,000 and the state is contributing $1.1 million in tax concession over 10 years. Mitsubishi, in turn, will be paying county taxes of $2 million over the 10-year period.

The manufacturer plans to have a staff of 350 engineers and support workers earning an estimated annual salary of $45,000, double the current average salary in Orange County, according to the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida Inc. About 85% of the work force will be local. EDC coordinated the Mitsubishi-county deal.

For Orange County, the Mitsubishi deal is on the small incentives side. Five years ago, the county contributed a total $21 million for the expansion of the Cirent microchip-manufacturing plant on south John Young Parkway in south Orlando.
