First Service is in the process of relocating its corporate headquarters from Connecticut to a 26,051 sf office at 221 National Business Park in Annapolis Junction, MD. The company also leased an additional 18,858 sf of space at 939 Elkridge Landing Rd. in the Airport Square complex located near the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, which will house the company's operations and response center.
These leases bring both buildings to full occupancy, with General Dynamics Electronic Systems occupying the remaining 91,839 sf at the park building. Corporate Office Properties currently owns and manages eight buildings in he ark, comprising more than 900,000 sf of space.
First Service Networks president John R. Nester says the company's growth plans required the move. "We needed to relocate our corporate headquarters and 24/7 response center to a thriving area that would allow us to recruit, motivate and retain a class of employee that significantly exceeds the average," he says. "Our strategic position between the beltways will also allow us to recruit between four markets and be close to major airports and interstate systems."
The company will either move or hire approximately 120 employees in Maryland as a result of this relocation. The company, which uses the Internet and wireless technology, offers site management services to corporations in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
