The company hopes to develop customized best-of-breed natural language applications here by building Edify Voce Virtual Customer Service Representative solutions using technology the company developed at its training center. The Center will offer full solution life-cycle services. According to company spokesperson, George Shaffner, this area was chosen because, "it is a great academic and business center with excellent access to the eastern seaboard."

In a released statement, Edify President and CEO Joseph G. Brown says, "The opening of our Speech Solutions Center is a significant step in Edify's evolution as a full-service customer interaction solution vendor."

In addition to its CA offices, Edify, which was founded in 1990, has offices in England, Australia and Hong Kong. This past fall, Edify signed a distribution agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. under which Compaq sells, markets, and provides systems integration services for Edify's Electronic Workforce.
