The newest tenants are Western Blue Print LLC, which will lease about 30,000 sf and Mortran Digital, which will lease about half of Western's space. The moves are expected to be completed by mid April.
Space previously occupied by retail tenants, such as Montgomery Ward, which moved out last month, has been consistently leased to non-retail parties in the past few years. Some of the agencies to occupy space in the mall include the Kansas City, KS Community Policing Unit, the US Postal Service and the Neighborhood Resource Center.
Retail, however, has not completely left the mall. About a third of the space is still occupied by retail businesses, according to a spokesperson with Fishman & Co. The mall's movie theatres still sit empty but provide space for meetings and training sessions for the other existing tenants.
In the case of Western Blue Print, four of the company's 11 divisions will move into the mall. The remaining divisions will stay in their existing locations throughout Kansas City and the state. Moving will be Document Automation Development, Color Authority, Cicero Graphic Resources and America Repro 2000.
The divisions will offer everything from small format scanning to large-scale graphics.
The America Repro 2000 division specializes in construction documentation. Some walk-up business is expected, with the majority coming from large orders from existing clients.
Mortran Digital will provide four and five color high-end digital printing, as well as Web site development and hosting. All of its operations, except for a press on Stanley Road, will move to the mall.
