Headquartered in Houston, Dynacq operates community-based, health-care centers. A source tells GlobeSt.com the company has chosen Citiscape International Inc., as the architectural firm for the project and Echco Construction Corp. Inc., as the general contractor. Construction is scheduled to begin in late April following approval of the project plans by the Texas State Department of Health. Dynacq hopes to complete the renovations by August at the 43-bed acute care facility.

Company chairman and CEO Chiu M. Chan, says, "The construction project is Phase II of the planned expansion of our hospital facilities. Management continues to aggressively build same-store growth while simultaneously pursuing its strategic growth plan of expanding ambulatory surgery center locations in the Houston market and beyond."

GlobeSt.com has been told Dynacq has no other immediate plans for the facility beyond the scheduled Phase II redesign. This redesign creates no new square footage and eliminates some hospital beds.
