WASHINGTON, DC-With the demolition and excavation at 1333 F St. already under way, owners of the Westory Building at 607 14th St. NW have begun the process of constructing their long-planned annex, which will expand the building from 180,000 sf to 238,000 sf. Building owner Despa took the expansion plans off hold because of the region’s now-strong real estate market and expiring or restructured leases.

When the building was built in 1990, the annex was part of the original plans, which would expand each floor by about 5,500 sf. Those plans were put on hold when the real estate market took a downturn in the early 1990s. When the company announced plans to move forward with its expansion plans, the law firm Perkins Coie took the opportunity to restructure and extend its existing 36,093 sf lease to 43,929 sf.
