TROY, MI-The Troy Downtown Development Authority met for a special meeting Mondaynight with the City Council, in order to convince the council members to reconsider a 5,000-seat performing arts center on Troy Civic Center property. The DDA argued that the center is the lynch pin to building a community-friendly block of development that would also include a large conference center, a hotel, a mixed-use office/retail complex and a parking garage.

Council rejected the 5,000-seat center in February, calling it too large. The projects, which would have to be built by private development, would cost about $210 million in infrastructure and construction fees. However, the DDA officials said the only cost to the residents would be the $50 million in roads and infrastructure.
