WASHINGTON, DC-CarrAmerica Realty Corp. has purchased the Class A office building at 1919 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, through a joint venture in which it was the managing venturer. The 257,000-sf building’s tenants include Allied Capital Corporation, Mortgage Bankers Association of America and the law firms of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, Jenkins & Gilchrist and Cole, Raywid & Braverman.
The purchase price was not disclosed and a company spokeswoman says there are no immediate plans for changes at the building. “1919 Pennsylvania Ave. occupies one of DC’s truly trophy locations at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 20th Street, NW, just four blocks west of the White House,” says John J. Donovan Jr., CarrAmerica’s managing director for the metro region. The company owns and manages, along with its partners, 41 buildings containing approximately 9.5 million sf of office space in the greater Washington area.
