According to Skip Colcord, spokesman for Polaroid, over 12 serious offers were received and Polaroid is in the process of negotiations. "With any sort of negotiation process there is a lot of back and forth, walking away from the table and coming back to the table," he says. "That is the nature of the beast." Colcord is responding to allegations that a potential buyer, reportedly WP Commercial Properties although Colcord declined to identify interested buyers, walked out on a deal with Polaroid because the two sides couldn't agree on a price.

Polaroid recently announced that it would be laying off 950 employees worldwide with half of those employees coming from this state. The company, which has been struggling financially in recent months, is attempting to reduce its debt and build a foundation for its instant digital business. To that end Colcord says that Polaroid is also considering selling other real estate assets in this state.

"We are looking at a number of different ways to raise money," he notes. "One is a thorough examination of our real estate portfolio. We are looking at all our sites." In addition to its buildings here, Polaroid has locations in Cambridge, New Bedford, Wayland, Norwood, Bedford and Norton.
