After 1993, when the federal government announced plans to shut down the 360-acre training center west of Lindbergh Field, the city signed leases with about 40 businesses and groups. City officials said they signed the month-to-month leases with the understanding that they would be temporary.

The tenants have retained attorney Kent Wilson find out what relocation benefits they might be eligible for as a result of the financial hardship wrought by a relocation.

The NTC site is undergoing redevelopment to make way for a proposed 23 acres for office and R&D space and 37 acres of housing. The city has chosen the National City-based Corky McMillin Co. to develop the 450-acre site, considered one of the premier spots on the California coast for redevelopment.
