Apple already leases 250,000 sf in Promontory Point on Texas 183 at US 290 for call center operations. The additional space, located in Stonehollow B, is intended to keep up with higher demand levels for computer support, says broker Chris Teesdale of Dallas-based Swearingen Realty Group, which has represented Apple in the transaction.
"This is a temporary expansion of their operations, which could become permanent if demand remains high," Teesdale tells GlobeSt.com. "Apple has a growing presence in Austin, but the approach they take to leasing space is conservative."
Apple has subleased the space from I2 Technologies, which had been represented by SamHouston, office division project partner at Austin-based Hill Partners. I2 Technologies, a software technology company, had moved out of the Braker Center lease space into a spot at Lakewood on the Park, another project managed by Hill Partners.
