The buildings, which are 98% leased to companies including CIENA Corporation, Cadmus Journal Services Inc. and the US government, increases Corporate Office Properties Trust presence in the Baltimore/Washington corridor to more than 4.2 million sf of office space among 55 buildings. The five multi-story office buildings, located in the Airport Square Business Park, are adjacent to the BWI Airport and within minutes from Route 295 and Interstate 95. Amenities and services near the buildings include restaurants and retail space.
"With the acquisition of these five office buildings, the company now controls 87% of the office space in the Airport Square Business Park area," says Corporate Office Properties president and chief operating officer Randall M. Griffin. The company is also in the middle of $83 million worth of construction projects in the Baltimore-Washington region, developing four buildings with a total of 491,000 sf of office space.
Corporate Office Properties, a self-managed REIT focusing on the ownership, development, management and acquisition of suburban office properties across the United States, now owns a total of 89 office buildings. These include 6.9 million sf of office space.
