Coastal Approvals Kick Off North Embarcadero Plan

SAN DIEGO-The California Coastal Commission has approved plans to site the aircraft carrier USS Midway on the Downtown bayfront and blessed plans for a 600-room hotel at the foot of Broadway.

SAN DIEGO-The state’s Coastal Commission has approved the siting of the vintage aircraft carrier USS Midway on the Downtown bayfront, along with plans for a 600-room hotel at the foot of Broadway.

The approvals earlier this month kick off the so-called North Embarcadero redevelopment plan. The coastal commission also approved the concept of a hotel at the current site of a parking lot at the foot of Broadway, along with an expansion of the city’s cruise-ship terminal and improvements to streets, parks and walkways.
