Alico Sells 1,350 Acres for $1.6 Mil to Mystery Buyer

LA BELLE, FL-The publicly traded agribusiness firm divests non-essential assets in rural southwest Florida for $1,185 per acre or about three cents per sf. La Belle is 102 miles northwest of Miami and 48 miles north of Naples, FL.

LA BELLE, FL-Alico Inc. has sold 1,350 acres in the rural Southwest Florida community of Hendry County for $1.6 million or $1,185 per acre (about three cents per sf) to a mystery buyer. The publicly traded agribusiness firm won’t identify the buyer to GlobeSt.com. Alico didn’t return GlobeSt.com’s phone calls at publication deadline.

The deal hasn’t yet been recorded in public records. Alico is controlled by Ben Hill Griffin III, son of the late legendary landowner, Ben Hill Griffin Jr., who left an estate valued at $300 million when he died in 1990, according to court records.

Ben Hill Griffin III is one of the most prominent real estate and business personalities in Florida. La Belle is 102 miles northwest of Miami and 48 miles north of Naples, FL.
