Both are consulting firms to the lodging and convention center businesses. "Hotels are often necessary components of a successful convention center project, enabling the public facility to maximize its economic potential," says Michael Cahill, president of HREC.

John Kaatz, director of convention industry services for CS&L, says the combined companies can help convention centers develop, operate, study and secure the necessary hotel inventory. As a team, they already have worked on a number of projects, including the expansion of the Colorado Convention Center, a proposed convention center and hotel in Pensacola, FL, and similar projects in Bartlesville, OK, south San Francisco and Lansing, MI.
