"This information allows a potential broker to assess the competition in an area," R. Robert Reading, executive vice president of Tactician, explains to GlobeSt.com. "It helps assess the commercial character of a market."

Previously, MapScape.com provided its users with the demographics that illustrated the demand in a given area. According to Reading, this new data rounds out that information by giving users the entire picture of an area. "Now you are viewing the other side of a location," says Reading. "Brokers have the ability to see the supply side. This lets them know if an area may be saturated in terms of supply."

Mapscape users can access the retail database either by entering a zip code, a county or by drive time. A list of this data will be displayed at no charge but for additional information, such as addresses and maps, users pay a fee either per location, per subscription or for unlimited usage.
