SAN FRANCISCO-One of two large office projects here still up for approval by the city this year was removed from consideration last week after its developer announced a scaling back of the project in light of the city’s cooling office market. The city approved some projects earlier this month, but split on two proposals that would have eaten up the remaining 112,000 sf of space available under the city’s development cap on large office projects.
Developer Thomas McCarthy originally proposed a three-story, 120,000-sf addition to a building on Berry Street near Pacific Bell Park. Last week he announced a reduction to 49,500 sf of office space, removing him from the contest for large office space, which involves projects larger than 50,000 square feet.
