Beacon Landing Revitalization Gets State Funding

ALBANY-Among the recipients of nearly $1.8 million in state funding handed out by Governor George Pataki is the city of Beacon, which has secured $346,300 to help revitalize its Beacon Landing Waterfront district.

ALBANY-The city of Beacon will receive $346,300 in state funding for its Beacon Landing Waterfront revitalization initiative. The funding for the project was included in nearly $1.8 million in funding allocations announced on Monday, March 26 by Governor George Pataki for various waterfront development, open space acquisition, recreation and historic preservation projects in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties in the Hudson Valley.

City of Beacon officials state that the Beacon Landing project is a 23-acre former industrial site, owned by Scenic Hudson, which will be redeveloped as a mixed-use area with commercial, retail, restaurant and marina development combined with public parkland, a waterfront trail, multilingual interactive interpretive signage, and a public fishing pier. The project will also seek to connect the new Dia Center for the Arts and the reconstructed ferry dock with Beacon’s Downtown.
