The New York based developer of office and industrial properties hired Edgar C. Jones Jr. to manage the office at 1111 Brickell Ave. as newly appointed director of Florida operations.
"The selection of Edgar Jones to head our Florida operations is representative of both the importance that we place on our current development projects in Florida, as well as our commitment to a long-term presence in that state," Jonathan D. Green, Rockefeller Group Development president and chief executive officer, says in a prepared statement.
"Edgar is a highly respected professional with the real estate experience and business acumen to see our current projects to their successful completion while at the same time establishing us as an industry leader throughout that market."
The company hired a 27-year veteran of the real estate industry, who most recently worked as vice president of office services in the Miami offices of Grubb & Ellis. Prior to that job, Jones participated in a team that developed, managed and leased the $100 million Alhambra mixed-use office-hotel project in Coral Gables. For six years, he managed the South Florida offices of Cushman & Wakefield of Florida Inc. which is one of our Rockefeller Group subsidiaries.
In his new role, Jones reports to Leslie E. Smith Jr., a Rockefeller Group Development senior vice president of development who manages a Florida development team from offices in New Jersey.
Besides identifying new projects, Jones now takes an active role in existing projects such as the 230,000-sf office complex the company is building in Miramar, FL, for Lucent Technologies and the planned 2.7 million-sf office-industrial complex the company is building in Homestead, FL as the Rockefeller Group Foreign Trade Zone.
