36,700-SF Municipal Project Spells Relief

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO-Municipal workers in Glenwood Springs will be getting some needed space. The city is undertaking a $6-million municipal building, ticketed for a late summer 2002 delivery. City workers now doing jobs out of closets and a windowless basement.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO-Everyone needs their space and Glenwood municipal workers will be getting theirs, but not until late summer 2002. That’s when the new city building is ticketed to open.

“We have got people right now working in closets and cubicles,” Glenwood City Manager Mike Copp tells GlobeSt.com. “We are about as tight as you can get.”

In 1999, taxpayers in this city, situated off of Interstate 70 and on the way to Aspen, had approved a $23-million bond issue. About $6 million is earmarked for the 36,700-sf municipal center. The four-story building is being designed by Oz Architecture, which has offices in Denver, Boulder and Summit County in the mountains.
