SAN JOSE, CA-The largest owners of commercial real estate in California are joining forces to look after and lobby for their mutual energy interests. Representing some 300 million sf from San Diego to the Oregon border, the newly formed consortium says its purpose is to “share best practices in energy efficiency, pursue innovative solutions to reducing energy consumption and to advise the State of California on energy initiatives.”

The lead players include Chicago-based Equity Office Properties Trust, TrizecHahn Corp. of Toronto, Los Angeles-based Arden Realty and the Irvine Co. of Newport Beach. Also involved are the Shorenstein Co. and Catellus Development Corp., both of San Francisco, Lowe Enterprises and Kilroy Realty Corp., both of Los Angeles, and New York-based Tishman Speyer Properties.
