The building is Post Properties' first development in the city. "The location is ideal for this product, and the market for class A apartments is outstanding in Washington," says Post president David Stockert.
"That whole neighborhood is in a resurgence," adds Post vice president Steve Etminani, who says construction should be finished by the end of next year. "It's a fantastic location."
According to the company, the building will combine modern features with aspects of the city's native architecture in order to appeal to both traditionalists and those with more modern tastes. The building will also include three levels of secure underground parking and a doorman, and the building's top two floors will feature 26 luxury units with nine-foot ceilings and private terraces.
Community amenities will include a business center, a club and game room, a ground-level oriental courtyard and a fitness center. There will also be a rooftop terrace with pool, sundeck and garden.
Elsewhere in the region, Post and Federal Realty are developing Pentagon Row in Arlington, VA adjacent to the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Pentagon Row, a multi-level, mixed-use development, will feature more than 300,000 sf of street-level retail under 500 mid-rise apartment homes. Nationwide, Post Properties owns approximately 35,180 apartment homes in 102 communities, including 4,385 units currently under development.
