Regulatory officials fully cleared the work on a planned $25 million, nine-story building that Hogan Group is developing for the Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association. Miami-based Burger King Corp. will use the building as its new headquarters site.

The 123-foot-tall structure in Waterford at Blue Lagoon, a 203-acre corporate park at Northwest 57th Avenue and Blue Lagoon Drive, just north of Miami International Airport, does not exceed Federal obstruction standards, according to a recently released FAA memorandum.

The agency also approved a 38-story condominium project and tentatively approved two other multistory buildings in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Sea Ranch Properties has received final approval to build the 38-story Las Olas River Residences condominiums. The 212-unit project, estimated to cost about $70 million, exceeded recommended height restrictions designed to protect air takeoffs and landings at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International.

Giving the project a tentative OK, Federal regulators are expected to grant final approval in mid-April on the three multistory condominium towers New York-based Omni Development Co. is building on Las Olas Boulevard between Southeast First and Southeast Second avenues.

Local government officials have approved the integrated development of two 30-story towers and a central 42-story tower on the two-acre site at an estimated development cost of at least $100 million.

The Omni's River House condominiums would exceed recommended Federal building heights in relation to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, the Downtown Heliport and the city's Site C Heliport.

And final approval is expected Apr. 23 on a estimated 19-story building that Florida Atlantic University is developing at 13 W. Las Olas Blvd. The building exceeded height recommendations for the Downtown Heliport.
