The Placerville Best Western Inn was sold to Kumar Sharma, who didn't reveal how much he paid for the hotel, but did say he plans to spend $250,000 to upgrade at least ten rooms to executive suites. "And if we can get the proper permits from the city along with a redevelopment grant we'd like to increase that to 20 rooms," Sharma tells GlobeSt.com.

The executive rooms will include 27-inch televisions, microwaves and refrigerators. Plans are also being made to add a continental style breakfast and a complimentary executive happy hour, says Sharma. "We have the space on site to add the breakfast. We'd also like to add an exercise room. It's just a matter of clearing the space, adding walls, carpet, and purchasing the equipment for the gym," he says.

Those and other projects may be approved once Best Western Corp. comes to view the property. The inspection will take place within the next two weeks, says Sharma, adding that if the renovations go well he may consider the purchase of another hotel.
