Two Telecoms Sign for 10th Floor of 111 Eighth Ave.

NEW YORK CITY-Long distance, local and wireless communications giant Sprint Corp. has added 100,000 sf of space to the 85,000 sf it occupies at 111 Eighth Ave. here. Separately, 360networks a broadband network services firm, has signed a new lease for 75,000 sf. Both leases are for 15-year terms. The two firms will house collocation facilities data on the all of the 10th floor, approximately 159,000 sf of space that was previously occupied by the New York State Insurance Fund.

Once the headquarters of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the building takes up an entire city block from Eighth to Ninth Avenues and from 15th Street to 16th Street. Built in 1932, the 16-story, 2.6 million-sf structure has 14.5 foot high ceilings and can handle floor loads up to 200 pounds per sf.
